Requirements
Watford's Vicarage Road stadium was chosen to be the venue for the
quarterfinals of the Rugby League World Cup 2000. Both Watford Council
and the Rugby League wanted to use this opportunity to raise the
profile of Rugby League within the whole community. Together, they
planned a whole series of events, working with schools and businesses,
leading up to a Civic Reception on the night before the quarterfinal
match itself.
The civic
reception would include children from local schools receiving
awards and performing rugby related dances. The Samoan rugby team
also would perform their rugby chant and there would be a variety
of speakers and video clips. All of this needed to be captured
on video as well as being screened on the night on a large video
display.
Solution
Video Production
Chaplin Multimedia produced, shot and edited video
in 3 local schools before the civic event. These were edited together,
with computer graphic titles and a soundtrack was custom written
for the production. The video clips were viewable also on the
website.
Event Production
& Presentation Design
The presentation was designed in PowerPoint
to be shown on the night, displaying notices and award winners
at the beginning, end and during the interval of the civic reception.
The design had to be consistent across the board, whether for
the Video Production, the Presentation
on the night, right down to the VHS video cover sheets. As Chaplin
Multimedia were involved in all those aspects, a consistently
high quality image was easy to achieve.
Further
notes
The Civic Reception was a well-planned and executed
event, which was very well received by the people attending. It
was seen as one of the highest quality events that Watford Council
had put on.
