"In
comparison to other area tourism websites, Watford Councils
looks professional and interesting. The category lists are
easy to follow and easy to update.
Regular meetings enabled us to decide on content easily.
There were always visuals available and this helped to give
a clear structure. The sessions on the updating were clear
and easy to follow."

Requirements
Watford Borough Council noticed that there was an increasing demand
to have one point of call for access to information on what's
happening in and around the Watford. Many businesses are relocating
to the area and the recent developments to the town centre have
made it a lively dynamic borough.
They wanted
an easy to use website that would act as a directory to the major
facilities the town has to offer. There was also a need to raise
the profile of tourism in Watford and move it away from a sense
that tourism could only be linked with seaside towns.
The secondary
aim was to provide a system that would allow staff at Watford
Borough Council to be able to update the website themselves.
Solution
A website was created website that provided an easy to use directory
of the towns facilities such as restaurants, parks and leisure
centres and included some history and interesting facts about
the town.
The design was lively but still seen as part of Watford Borough
Councils overall website strategy.
Chaplin Multimedia's
Website Administrator Facility (WAF) was ideal to
allow several staff members to log in and update specific aspects
of the tourism website. There were press releases, the interesting
facts, and of course the directory entries themselves. All of
these can be updated via the WAF system.

Further
notes
Once the website was created, training was provided
on how to update the site. There have been several updates since
originally launched such as competitions and linking the directory
entries to multimap. There are many more additions planned for the
future, which will continue to add to the usability of the site
and make it "The Official Guide to Watford".
